Iowa Caucuses MOOC Usability Study
I conducted a user-based usability study of Iowa State University’s first MOOC on Iowa Caucuses. The primary objectives of the study were to assess the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the MOOC page for basic navigation and information retrieval tasks and identify the major usability issues related to navigating through the MOOC page and searching information on the MOOC page. User-based tests were conducted with 8 representative users from different audience groups for the MOOC. During the tests, the users were asked to perform typical tasks on the MOOC page and they were observed as they worked on the page. Results of the usability study informed the design of the MOOC page and recommendations for improvement were used to change the design.
